Midnight Queen

You called us Romeo and Juliet,
I laughed and said, "They faced their death.

Three days of love, then met their fate,
A tragic end sealed much too late."

But seven days passed, and here we lie,
Bleeding out beneath the sky.

My raven dark, my midnight queen,
With wings that fade where none have seen.

And I, your Romeo, lost in the night,
Falling fast from flame to blight.

Gasping for breath, our hands uncurled,
Pulled apart by this cruel world.
