Does anyone know any surgery to relax the V-shaped muscles in the forehead?
When I was five years old, I recall a memory of going downstairs to the kitchen where my father made a comment about the size of my nose. Little did I know at that age, the peculiar way my facial features behaved. Every morning when I woke up, my nose appeared significantly larger due to build up of fluid, but as the day progressed, it gradually returned to its normal size by midday. Back then, I lacked this understanding and attributed the change to a direct relationship between scrunching my forehead and the apparent reduction in my nose size.
In my innocence, I began repeatedly furrowing my forehead 24/7 because I had noticed that it seemed to make my nose appear smaller. This unintentional assumption was based on the fact that, by midday, the swelling in my nose had subsided naturally. However, this habit of mine ended up creating a noticeable V-shaped muscle structure on my forehead by the time I turned 22 that is after 17 years of furrowing and scrunching my forehead. This muscle formation was so pronounced that it was visible even from a distance and my forehead was no longer smooth. Additionally, the fat pad in my forehead had shifted, contributing to the muscle's prominence.
Attempting to address this issue, I explored options such as botox. While botox did offer some temporary improvement in the smoothness of my forehead, it didn't eliminate the V-shaped muscle. Unfortunately, as time went on, my forehead's appearance continued to worsen due to the compressed muscles. Moreover, my ability to receive botox injections became limited as a doctor explained that the muscles responsible for facial movement, specifically the corrugator muscles, were no longer responsive. This revelation came after a frustrating experience with a doctor who struggled to administer botox effectively and charged a significant amount for an ineffective treatment.
Seeking an alternative, I consulted another doctor who provided an honest assessment. She informed me that the issue stemmed from the persistent forehead scrunching I had practiced incessantly. She clarified that botox wouldn't alleviate this problem, unlike my previous encounters where doctors proceeded with treatment despite its limited impact. I appreciated her straightforwardness and opted not to pursue botox with her.
Now that I am 28 years old, I am grappling with the visual impact of the bunched muscles on my face. The effects are particularly prominent in certain lighting conditions at night, making me appear significantly older than I actually am. I'm wondering if anyone has insights into exercises, surgery or techniques that could help relax these tense facial muscles or any tips.
