Keeping the media clean 😎 tonights workspace, reflecting

just my workspace tonight as i'm adding ac3 audio streams to media that lacks it (my setup works best w/ac3 audio vs dts/eac). macos with win10 in rdp hosting my plex and ersatztv.

man.. i remember back when i had to wait 6 hours to transcode a dual layer dvd to fit on a single layer. saved up and bought the first consumer DVD+R/RW burner (2.4x speed even!!) and became my local groups movie guy (beer or spindle of dvds is all i asked). A full dual layer (dvd9) movie backup to single (dvd5) would take about 8 hours total, around 6 hours to rip/transcode/remux and another hour or so to actually burn dvd.. and dvds were not cheap then either...

now, i can rip a ac3 audio stream from a mkv in 1:30min and then multiplex back to mkv in 20secs.. if i need to want to re-encode video, prob another 5 mins or so. and then all saved back to a 30TB+ NAS.

yup.. amazing to see how tech and this scene has progressed.. also.. long live afterdawn forums! and doom9! old fart peacing out. 🤡
