Second Car Finance Advice
Hello, I need some advice on what would be the best way to go about this.
Lemme just preface this by saying I'm 24 and recently started building my credit for a year before buying my car. I live at home with my family.
I recently bought my first car last year December for R220k I put down half as a deposit with the remainder financed at 14%. My monthly installment is about R2700. I have about R170k in savings earning about 8% (if the balance is above R100k)
Now, my mum's car decided that it didn't want to work anymore. It's an old car with a lot of issues we took it a mechanic and he suggested it's time we sell it. (WBC offered us R40k for it before inspection, expecting it to be lower)
We are looking at financing a decent car for about R165k (2018 Kia Picanto Auto) that can be reliable. But the issue is that my mum has poor credit history but can afford it, and we were think that I should take out the finance on my name. I'm not too worried about trust and such.
What are the implications of this, and is there an optimal solution? Refinancing?
Thanks in advance
