I've been thinking about show anabeth and this sums up my thoughts pretty well.

So i was thinking about now her character being a white blond girl was to counter the dumb blond stereotype. In the same vain I think her being black in the show fits perfectly with what this series is for, giving people someone to see themselves in. The stuff that makes us different like adhd, dyslexia and being the "dumb pretty blond". These things were turned into powers. You're not dumb you're a demigod! Her characters original stereotype is played out. Rick went a more complex modern route and flips societal views on black women while still being loyal to her original characterization. Show anabeth does the same thing book anabeth does simply for a different demographic and I think it's really cool that characters we love and grew up with can adapt to be Role models for the newer fans!
