Finally scheduled for surgery
I’ve had PF issues my whole life but didn’t get diagnosed until 2020. Defecography & AM showed grade 1 cystocele and rectocele. My symptoms included -pelvic pain -pooping takes 45+ minutes and always has -painful arousal & sex -numbness, very difficult to orgasm, weak orgasms -heavy, swooping/dropping sensation -severe constipation
I did two rounds of pt. Drank more water. Ate more fiber. Tried every prescription laxative and also water enemas. The pain continued getting worse, the bulging in my vaginal canal got worse and worse, and it felt like every period I had made symptoms worse (I have EDS). This last period, pain was at an all time high, urgency was bad, and when I took my menstrual cup out I felt a dropping sensation. After cleaning it off I tried to put it back in and it no longer fit. Tried to insert my fingers and found it was difficult because there was too much tissue in the way and I’d lost significant height.
Up to this point my drs had told me my issues weren’t that bad and they weren’t surgical, but they wouldn’t evaluate me standing up, which is really important with EDS, but also when symptoms are way more severe than the prolapse seems to suggest they should be.
I had an appointment on Friday and demanded I be checked upright. Bam, I have surgery scheduled for the end of january for a total hysterectomy, uterosacral ligament suspension, possible anterior & posterior repair, and a cystoscopy.
My questions are: 1. How much is this gonna suck (I already know about the constipation risks) 2. If you’ve had a hysto, did you keep your cervix? I feel so little during sex but I like it when my cervix is hit and I’m SO scared I’ll just never be able to fully enjoy PIV sex again 3. If you had numbness/loss of sensation, did it get better with surgery? I just want to be a normal 29 year old who can have fun in bed. 😭
