HEALTHY competition will drive PPop to new heights

Yes, HEALTHY competition. Some examples even if this is just my personal take.

  1. Without SB19, ABS-CBN might still be mainly cashing in on biriteras. It is like there probably would be no Samsung smartphones if Steve Jobs had never brought out the iPhone. Having said that, ABS-CBN should especially NOW watch out that BINI doesn't end up like HTC smartphones. HTC who? EXACTLY.

  2. SB19 had a strong 2023, was kind of overshadowed by BINI in 2024 but came back stronger with DAM. What will happen to the rest of the pack is unclear but G22 stood out to me with Pa-Pa-Pa-Palaban.

  3. BINI profited from the skill of the FlipMusic hitmakers. Calista and G22 have also hired them recently.

  4. BINI was one of the first clients of YouMeUs MNL for music videos. SB19 hired them starting with WYAT I think and only went for a new music video firm with DAM. Competition feeds many skilled subcontractors.

  5. BINI is trying international sound with the Biniverse EP while SB19 has a very unique sound in DAM. It will be interesting to watch where each group manages to succeed - and not quite succeed yet. This also applies to both group's World Tours, and lessons learned can be applied to the next round by whoever.

  6. Management and fans are of course motivated by healthy competition, be it to get ad sponsors aka ninangs, sell concert tickets especially abroad and stream/watch releases. It all increases attention to PPop. Probably international success is what will make PPop sustainable long-term, with 3-5 major groups at any given time.

Actually even some degree of taunting can be part of healthy competition, like between fans of sports teams. It just shouldn't go to the level of online "hooliganism", to continue the sports analogy. Your thoughts?
