Planning a Family Trip to Prince Edward Island as a Small Act of Protest – Need Travel Tips from Maryland

I'm an American who’s taking my family to Prince Edward Island this summer, and part of the reason is a small protest against the current U.S. government. I'm more than happy to spend my US Dollars up north in Canada. We’re traveling from Maryland, but I’m running into some travel dilemmas and could really use your advice!

Flying out of D.C. or Baltimore is either ridiculously expensive or has really long travel times (16+ hours, with long layovers in places like Toronto or Montreal). Driving is another option, but it’s about 16 hours one way, and we’d have to break it up into multiple days, which adds to the cost and time as well.

I’m also considering flying from New York to Halifax and then driving up to PEI. Has anyone done this? Is Halifax worth spending a night or two in while en route?

Would love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, or tips on any of these options. Thanks in advance!
