Why can't you buy galactic wepon variants with legacy points?

My girlfriend and I were going through the new seasons features and noticed that you can't buy the new weapon variant with legacy points. My girlfriend was disappointed cus she had saved her comp points specifically to buy galactic. I hope this is a mistake like with hazard only having jade for a while, has anyone else experienced this? What are our thoughts?
