Why do so many content creators INSIST that Symmetra is better than she is
In general, but especially within this current patch.
Let's get something out of the way: Symmetra was the hero who expericed the greatest winrate loss in EVERY rank between pre and post patch. In some elos she was even down over 10 for the first week of the patch. Since then things have improved somewhat, but that's true for every hero. Everyones winrates have evened-out.
Despite this, Symmetra is still the lowest winrate DPS hero by a CONSIDERABLY margin. She is still over a full percent lower than Junkrat, and her overall winrate is 45.8%. If we consider RELATIVE winrate (meaning we look at specifically winrate in relation to a heroes "usual" winrate) Symmetra is about 8-10% her usual all-ranks winrate. As a niche hero with a large OTP playerbase, it makes sense for her winrate to be high, so seeing it AS LOW as it currently is... well, it's *concerning.*
Compared so some of the other "worst heroes".
- Symmetra is 1% below Junkrats Winrate
- She is 2.5% below Illaris winrate
- She is 1% *above* Lifeweavers winrate
- She is 3.5% below Reinhardts winrate.
And despite this, content creators, other than KarQ, consistently place her 1-2 tiers above the bottom. Despite being a HUGE amount below Reinhardt and Illari, both considered to be fairly "unplayable" she is STILL considered to be "not too bad." When you consider her relative winrate, things are looking EVEN WORSE. While Lifeweaver is below Symmetra in winrate, his relative winrate is only down ~4%, compared to Syms relative winrate which is down 10-8%.
And this has been a trend consistent pretty much since her rework. Symmetra players will know she's bad, she won't be making apperances even on her premier map (1/3 of Lijang) and content creators will *still* insist that she's better than people think she is. Why?
