KCUCOM-KC vs TouroCOM-Harlem

Hello! I have an acceptance at KCUCOM in KC. However, recently I got an interview invite to TouroCOM in Manhattan. I am 100% going to do the interview but I wanted some insight before (in the case that I get an A from Touro).

From what I’ve gathered, KCU is higher in ranking, which is what deters me from Touro. On the other hand, I wonder if residency programs kind of generalize all DO programs anyway and just see DO as DO? Do rankings matter? My competitiveness mostly relies on board scores and not what school I attend. Another thing holding me back is KCU is p/f and Touro is not.

Touro wins every other way. The location is ideal, not merely because it’s NYC but because I have a strong support system there, while I have no ties to KCMO. Touro likely has more networking and research opportunities due to its location. Rotation sites are better; KCU has scattered sites all over the country. And yes the tuition is a bit higher at Touro, but I’ll be in debt and taking loans out one way or another.

At the end of the day, I want to practice in the Northeast, and Touro gives me a more paved path to it. I am really not familiar with the Midwest, but if KCU has a strong advantage over Touro for residency matching then I’d still go there.
