"DO is the new MD"
Curious to hear from people who actually "drink the DO kool-aid" rather than have simply stumbled into it. I've been doing a lot of research lately in preparation for this cycle and it's all very exciting. From what I've heard and read, I really do feel like it might be a better fit for me based on the philosophy and culture, regardless of stats. Anecdotally, it seems like becoming a DO is becoming more of a hot topic in society- multiple healthcare practitioners (hospice coordinator, my dentist most recently) have brought it up organically when I mention medicine in general, and anything I've heard in real life has always been positive. I've never encountered an actual DO stigma outside of the internet, unless it is to cite practical things like statistical match rates. So it feels like osteopathic medicine is becoming this rising, exciting thing (though maybe it is confirmation bias), and choosing a DO school can be a prudent move even with an MD acceptance. Thoughts?
