Black hole trigger verses rush cards

In this example my opponent playing shanks deploys a monkey d dragon (8c) and gives 2 DON!! To his leader, he then swings at my leader for 7k, I take the life and draw a black hole trigger allowing me to negate the effects of one of my opponents characters. I use it on dragon. Can that dragon attack me for 9k? Did the tigger disable his rush effects?
