Looking for the perfect chair
Hi everyone!
I need advice to buy a new chair for my home office. I'm going to share my background and the chairs I tested so far to replace my old one. Sorry if some sentences don't make a lot of sense, english is not my first languaje, but I hope you can understand what I'm looking for.
My old chair:
I have an Actiu Stay. Actiu is a Spanish brand (I'm from Spain) with medium quality chairs, and the one I have is a chair with a really soft seat cushion, as it has kind of an air chamber in it; a mesh backrest with really hard frame; adjustable lumbar support; and fully adjustable arms.
What I don't like about this chair is the hard frame around the backrest. It hurts my back when I try to move. Also I don't like that after two years it already started to make noises when I move around. And finally I don't like that the arm pads are also really hard and hurt my elbows. Also, I would like if it had a more pronunced lumbar support.
What I like about this chair is the adjustability and the seat cushion.
1st chair I tested to replace my old one:
I bought a Steelcase Leap v2, and oh man, the difference is huge. It feels like a tank, like it will last forever.
I love the backrest, it has a ton of lumbar support and that's one of the most important things I was looking for. I also like the arms, they can move wherever you want and they are soft enough. About the seat cushion I'm not fully sure. I think I have to adjust my body to it because I feel it really hard and I come from the opposite, but it is supposed to be better this way so I'll give it some time.
What I don't like is the reclinement mechanism. This is going to be hard to explain. I feel like this chair is meant to be used in one position, because when you recline it kinda stops you there. It doesn't allow you to balance like a rocking chair (like HM chairs for example). It is not bad because it is the intention of the mechanism, it works perfectly, but it is not what I'm looking for. Besides working in this chair I also spend time in my PC, as a hobby, and I also like to recline and sit in other ways than the "correct" one, but I feel like this chair doesn't allow that.
2nd chair I tested to replace my old one:
I went yesterday to test the HM Embody (normal edition but I would go with the Logitech one) in a local store, and it felt the opposite of the Leap. The seat is softer, it doesn't have a very pronunced lumbar support, the arms are not as adjustable (why the hell the arms are like that??), and it can move literally like a rocking chair, and I love that.
There are two problems with the emody. The first one is the lumbar support. I was looking for a really hard one and I don't know if I would like the way the Embody has it. And the second one is the way that it pushes my shoulders forward. When I increase the tension of the backrest to feel fully supported, the top frame curves and pushes my shoulders forward, curving my hole back. I don't know why it is not independent but it is what it is.
What I'm looking for:
I would love a chair with the backrest and the arms of the leap, and also the seat and the reclining mechanism of the Embody. Are there any chairs like that?
Thank you in advance!
