Are The Devs Gaslighting For Money? (You Decide Before Buying 26)

I recently came across an interesting conversation from an AMA I did to try to help the community.

The link in the start of that conversation is below. Do please read through it in full before formulating an opinion.

User u/Organic-Baker-4156 (Potentially a sus alt user of u/I_Killith_I who also often references the OOTP Wiki and has commented in my AMA's) Has made some very interesting claims that I've found over the years to be true.

Namely:

  • The company hasn't kept the manual up to date.
    • No shit...they haven't in well over 10 years.
  • When they encountered a bunch of problems with 25 and had to fix them the 25 manual was delayed. In its absence a Wiki was suggested. OOTP management believed they could turn the function over to volunteers and it would be OK.
    • 25 was the worst launch I've seen in 10+ years. On OOTP forums a new manual was promised but never released. Now there's this Wiki thing. Sounds like gaslighting to me.
  • It hasn't gone well so far but its not so far behind that a half a dozen active editors and some active moderators couldn't save it.
    • I recall they tried this with 23. On their YT channel they had some people put in work to explain mechanics for them (if you are one of those people please reply and let me know your experience in relation to what I've been targeted for from the linked post).
  • Due to years of failure to document changes as they made them, they often don't know how the game works. There is no chance of OOTP issuing a decent manual.
    • From a company that claims (and pays media outlets to sponsor them) to be the most accurate and intricate baseball simulation in the world.......as a consumer. THAT is concerning. Especially since they actually haven't released a decent manual in over a decade.
  • So for OOTP to write a good manual at this point they'd need someone to look at all the code and probably play the game a lot of times. Can't happen. That's why we're in a situation of users needing to wikify their observations from game play on how the game works.
    • Can't happen? It totally CAN happen if you are a legitimate developer.

Again, just something for new consumers to think about before buying 26.

The original developer, Markus, just dipped outta nowhere.

Their official forums have been a wasteland of false promises/gaslighting for a long time.

Now they want their consumers to not only pay them for their game that they haven't deved (and probably don't know how to dev) since perfect team came along....but they also want those same consumers to do their job.

For free.

Maybe wait and see if 27 delivers before giving the cash grab money for 26.
