Asus PG32UCDM G-Sync/VRR issues - am I missing something?

EDIT/FIXED: So after a few cable swaps/restarts and OSD settings resets the "choppy" behavior ceased and is now buttery smooth with G-SYNC activated. I tested via HDMI and DP and both behave as expected. I also ticked the "G-SYNC Compatible Indicator" in the Nvidia Control Panel and it is indeed active in-game. NVCP stills states that it's not a validated G-SYNC display but I believe this to be purely cosmetic and will probably be fixed in future driver updates.

Original Post:

So admittedly I've only been playing around with this thing for an hour or two. I loaded up COD and it seemed very choppy to me. I'm coming from an LG CX 120hz display and it looked worse. I started investigating and according the Nvidia Control Panel (NVCP) it says "Selected Display is not validated as G-SYNC Compatible." Obviously it is supposed to be...

If I turn VRR off on the panel's OSD then COD goes back to buttery smooth (this also removes the G-Sync option in NVCP). I'm on a 4090 and in multiplayer I hit around 200fps with everything mostly on high/ultra. Is this something I need to wait for Nvidia to fix via driver updates?

Anyone else lucky enough to grab this panel seeing/experiencing the same? Am I missing a setting? I've tried all the basic stuff (restarting, reseating cables, turning it on/off) and I even tried multiple cables including the one that came with the monitor... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Also tried an HDMI 2.1 cable and the same notice is in NVCP.
