What is the difference in the duties that Library Information assistants and Librarians are allowed to do within the New York Public Library system?

I know this is more of a Glassdoor question, but Reddit has always been there for me before when I need help. I know that Library Information Assistants in the New York Public Library (NYPL) generally only have a Bachelor's Degree while Librarians have an MLIS, but would someone be able to tell me what duties non-supervisory librarians can do that information assistants are normally not allowed to do? I just want a better idea about the distinction because both positions generally do circulation, community outreach, collection development, programming, and reference.
