Thanking subscribers at beginning of a video?

Has anyone taken 20 seconds in a video to thank subs? Is this dumb? I did at the beginning of my latest video and it hasn’t really made a difference in anything. If anything, people are dropping off the video sooner.

Is this unnecessary?
