Monetization of fan-projects

One of my more ambitious ideas is a fan-made, crossover series between two, maybe three pre-existing properties. Whether or not I make money from the series isn’t exactly a dealbreaker. But if I wanted to monetize the videos that are a part of my fan project, could I?
