Ends of braids not braided

Is it normal for braiders not to braid the ends of box braids? I got my hair done yesterday and today I noticed the ends weren’t not braided instead they are loose. I haven’t gotten box braids in a while so I’m not sure if that is normal or not. She dipped the hair in hot water and everything.
