IMPORTANT: 20M going to join a three tier NLU (Ranchi/Assam/Nagpur) after THREE DROPS, needs reality check
In 2022, after completing my 12th grade, I had little knowledge about CLAT and decided to take a drop year. I secured a rank that could have gotten me into MNLU Nagpur, but concerns about placements made me opt for a second drop. Unfortunately, I struggled with the exam and ended up with an AIR of 8,000. Through MHCET, I was eligible for a Mumbai University college, but it wasn’t a strong option. I also had offers from SLS Noida and BITS Mumbai, but financial constraints—specifically the fear of repaying an education loan without guaranteed placements—made those choices unviable.
By July 2024, with only four months left for CLAT 2025, I had to decide whether to settle for a mediocre college or give the exam one last shot. I chose the latter and have now secured a rank that qualifies me for NLUs like Nagpur, Ranchi, or Assam. Looking back, I realize I have made several impulsive or uninformed decisions over the past three years, but at this point, I can only focus on moving forward.
I understand that these NLUs are not among the best, and my future prospects will largely depend on my own efforts. What I seek now is a realistic assessment of how challenging it will be to secure internships and remain competitive throughout law school. Those already in the field are likely aware of the hurdles associated with mid-tier NLUs, so I welcome both positive and critical insights on what to expect in the coming years.
