Rachel and Dana

I just started watching Mythic Quest and i just don’t really care about Rachel and Dana… I feel the writers of the show didn’t really build the characters before establishing a romantic plot. Do the characters become more funny or interesting? I notice myself almost skipping all their scenes because their relationship doesn’t mean anything to me.
