Does anyone else have trouble fishing in this game?

I've been playing mysims since it was on the wii. I've played it on the wii, pc and now the switch. The fishing mechanic just seems.. bad. Maybe it's just me, or my console? But it's so inconsistent that it just becomes a pain to try to do. I'll see the bubbles and I'll hover over it and press A, like how I'm supposed to, but nothing happens and the bubbles go away and I miss out on essences. I never had this issue on the wii or the pc. Fishing was so easy and took up little to no time at all. And then when you try to leave the fishing action, it will take you out of it, then put you back into it, and then that's it. You have to press B or walk away multiple times to get it to work the way it should. It this just a me issue or is anyone else having this problem?? Like it's not a big deal I just wanna know if it's not just me
