Has this happened to anyone?!

I’m fairly new at the game and just made a lot of progress to almost unlock the beach area. I was waiting for stuff to recharge and when I got back on, it took me back several steps to start at the beginning of the well again. I’m so defeated because I used a lot of energy and time to be almost done. There was a weird orange signal icon on my screen during the last play and not sure if that had to do with it deleting my progress. Super annoyed and wondering if others have experienced this?
