3-Point Bend test on a scale?
I need some help here, can't wrap my head around this.
I need to perform a very simple and preliminary bending strength test on a test sample. In a usual 3-Point Bend Test, the load cell is attached the the actuator. However, since I don't have a fancy test setup at home I was wondering if I could achieve similar results by simply placing the whole fixture on top of a scale and measuring the force (mass) this way. Pic for reference.
From what I understand, since the whole test setup, above the scale, is a closed system. All forces must be transferred to the scale.
Am I wrong? Can someone smarter than me validate this?
Thank you.
