2013 Range Rover Sport 5.0L V8. Loss of power/stalling issue can't track down the problem. Please help!
Looking for some help with a 2013 Range Rover sport (non supercharged) 5.0L V8.
I have been chasing this problem forever and want to see if the community has any advice. Randomly one day while driving the car felt like a loss of power and flashed the battery icon. I noticed some corrosion on the battery terminal and cleaned it off, all seemed fine.
A day or two later, it stalled, a total loss of power multiple times. All power steering, brakes, etc... lost. Would have to turn the car off, then back on and was able to limp it to a shop. Threw a P0A1A "Generator Control Module" code.
They said bad battery and alternator, so I got that replaced. However, the tech took it out and had the stalling issues as well. He tracked it down to a P0087-00 code "Fuel Rail/System Pressure - too low". So he found a faulty fuel sensor and replaced that, as well as the PCV valves had gone bad.
All the test drives went fine so I drove it home and it was fine. Wife took it to the gym and had the stall/loss of power 8 times!!!
I scanned it and got P2279 "Intake Air System Leak". I took it around the block and as I felt it about to lose power and saw it flash the check engine and battery light, I let off the gas and it came back before stalling out.
My fear is its timing related, but I assume if timing it would throw other codes? I believe my VIN is on the cusp of when the corrected the timing issues but no way to verify. It does sound like a diesel though and chains have a little slop, but I am not sure thats related to this issue
It feels like a fuel/air related issue, and maybe the battery light comes on as the RPM's drop so low as its about to die? Appreciate any help as this thing has been a headache to track.
Thanks!
