What is Aran's smash swing?

Hello, I apologize if this is a silly question what should aran's rotation look like? Should I only be spamming beyond blade during training and include hunter's prey during bossing?

What is and how do I use aran's smash swing? I keep seeing it in the description of several passive skills.
