The story is about a man who gets transmigrated into a corpse on a battlefield. He receives a system reward of immortality but, since he’s weak, he pretends to be dead. A chubby guy nearby keeps making noise about needing to position an orb artifact to defeat a giant demon summoned by the demonic sect. The MC tells him to shut up and play dead. The chubby guy misunderstands, calls the MC a coward, and somehow, the MC ends up with the orb. He accidentally falls in front of the demon, and everyone believes he’s heroically sacrificing himself. They activate the orb’s power, firing a laser that blows up the demon and the MC. The MC survives and appears far from the battlefield. While fleeing demonic disciples attack him, the MC fends them off. Meanwhile, members of his sect come looking for his "corpse" to honor his sacrifice. To avoid being discovered, the MC pretends to be dead. His face even gets stepped on, but he stays in character. Eventually, his "corpse" is recognized and taken back to the sect, where they plan a grand ritual to encase him in mercury and stone as a tribute. Freaked out, the MC reveals he’s alive, shocking everyone.
