Buck passing / warranty or not. Camera/Pre-Collision Assist Not Available
I've only had my 2021 GT Cyber Orange since spring. Low mile, someone had to have it and then didn't like charging and calculating.
I got the HVJB done, dealer said their guy was top-tier trained. Got the car back with big rattle in back and found the battery pack had several of the 23 bolt loose. Dealer had it 2 days and a weekend and then most of a Monday.
Camera issue was looked into and not solved. Camera goes missing at odd times, Blue Cruise drops out (in actual hands free mode, one pedal drive at 77mph in tight urban traffic, goes into braking mode, there is also only one mode of cruise control, so when the camera is "missing" for 20 minutes that gets old. Sometimes the camera shows back up after 3-5 minutes.
Returned the car to the dealer to have the rattles and the camera faults looked at again. They had it for two days. They apologized that the service tech put a shield back "out of place" that caused the rattle, they also apologized that I found plastic clips in the "frunk" and loose plastic. They said the tech should have paid more attention.
Camera issue persists, but I've been enjoying the car a lot. But damn that camera going "missing" and me loosing all cruise control on long flat highway hauls. (I live in the midwest).
I decided to find another dealer before the warranty is up. Scheduled an appointment, I checked day before (two week wait). Service manager said he had me on the list, but could not assure me that the car would be looked at as they were overbooked. Told me to leave the car and "get in line." "Lots of people with problems." I said, but it's an appointment, he "it's an appointment to get in line." I cancelled and looked for another dealer.
Warranty (3 year) expired, Ford keeps e-mailing me about Blue Cruise, but I keep saying it only works 15-20 minutes at a time. Kinda a non-starter for $70 month right?
New dealer say's the coax that goes from the camera to the back of the car needs replaced per a TSB. But they say it's "out of warranty." I show them documentation that it's been looked at twice, and screen shots of logs that my car sends my phone every time the camera goes missing.
I bought Ford's Extended Service plan. $100 deductible for each issue, they are saying this is a "new issue." I say it's an unresolved warranty issue. I can pay, it's the principle. They say at TSB isn't a "recall." So until it's a recall it's on me (us).
With that, I am wondering how many clips, and bolt will go un-used, be broken, etc etc in tearing my car apart. I hate to assume that will be the case. I photographed the car, and I told them it's Rolls-Royce tomb in winter quiet, and I want it to stay that way, and that I require them to re-assemble the car without missing or broken clips or skipping anything. I'm polite, I'm 58, and beaten down.
I had 4 Hondas in my "fleet" and no warranty issues. I had a Toyota with one recall and one warranty issue and the dealer ham-fisted the repair and left the car blemished before it had 9000k miles.
Cadillac dealer, put a floor jack through the floor/buckled fender and door hinge on a service for a power steering leak. Was in the body shop for a week. Mehhh. Then I pick the car up and there was grease all over the light colored leather. You can't make this stuff up.
I'll post back, I want to be hopeful this repair will be the last trip to the dealership for 40k miles or 4 years.
I really like my cyber orange Mustang GT (MachE).
