Double click on chat makes new iMessage window open

Hi this is more of an annoyance than a genuine issue, but i was wondering if anyone knew how to disable the feature in iMessage where it opens a new window of a specific conversation if you double click it. I somehow manage to accidentally do this all the time and it's really irritating.

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro and I'm running Big Sur.
