Autocorrect overriding text replacements

Text replacements don't work for me anymore because autocorrect overrides them. If the text to replace is 2 real words put together as one, autocorrect tries to make it 2 words and text replacement doesn't happen. Even if it's gobbledygook, autocorrect tries to capitalize the first letter of the text to replace and then text replacement doesn't happen.
