If “He Finally Sleeps” was indeed cut from Ballonerism, why do you guys think it was?

I have a theory.

This is assuming “He Finally Sleeps” was actually on Ballonerism in the first place. This is also assuming it’s not related to sample clearance.

Nothing on Faces was cut on streaming release because it was already released to the general public. There would be an outrage if that happened.

But, on “Therapy Pt. 2”, Mac’s opening line about thoughts of wanting to off himself was removed from the actual released version.

“He Finally Sleeps” has a line that’s very blunt about wondering which drug will eventually end his life. I’m wondering if it was removed because of that harrowing line.

If this is the case, it’s an absolutely travesty because it’s one of the best songs on the record and one of my favorite Mac songs of all time. Just really sad.

What do you guys think?
