New player arcana choices

I just picked up the game with a friend and am trying to decide which talents to level and which arcana to go for, I usually enjoy playing mages in games so I was considering choosing "dark diviner" but I have no clue if this would be a decent choice for a completely new player. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated <3
