SSuRE at SickKids
I’m an IMG studying in an MBBS program abroad and I’ve seen a lot about the SSuRE program at SickKids. I do know that clinical electives and experience trump everything when applying to residency; however, I’m only going to be eligible for an elective after completing my sixth year of medical school, and I’m currently a fifth year student.
Do you think that experience in this program would give me a higher chance at securing a residency spot in either internal medicine or pediatrics or will I be wasting my time and money on accommodations? I still haven’t started applying, but taking the time to apply to the program is lengthy as I do have to prepare my application documents and send out personalized email to each research lab.
