Veg tan leather finishing

Hey Y'all

I'm working on my first leather project, a knife sheath. I'm using a dyed vegetable tanned leather specifically this one: https://theleatherguy.org/collections/vegetable-tanned-leather/products/artisans-choice-bridle-leather-cow-various-pre-cut-tobacco-8-9-oz

I am not planning on dying the face of the project. I am curious about if I should and if so what finish to use. I'd like to keep the color about the same and would prefer a satin finish. I do plan on dying the edges so please advise if I need to use something different for that.
