Case management software?
As one of the two millennials to become equity shareholders with my firm last year, I have been tasked with researching and suggesting alternate case management platforms for us to consider. Currently, we use MyCase, and it’s just not a good fit.
My firm has 10 attorneys, and around 30 full-time support staff, across 4 office locations, each about 30 minutes away from the next. We are a general practice firm, with a heavy focus on estate planning and administration.
The issues with MyCase are the financial reports, and their lack of depth. There’s also document automation, but it’s so clunky. And, what really chaps my ass: we complained to MyCase Support constantly about how bad the conflict check search function is. Results aren’t necessarily sorted by relevance, but more like the order in which MyCase discovered a similar search result. To MyCase’s credit, they appear to have improved the search function, but they locked it behind a paywall for a new tier that was introduced, which is significantly more than what we are paying. I understand using new tiers to roll out new features. But using them to roll out bug fixes is unforgivable.
So, I’m interested to hear everyone else’s experience with other programs. And, I think this is important, how easy/difficult it was to embrace. Our firm switched to MC from Practice Master and Tabs, and I think many of our initial problems were due to everyone trying to make MC work like PM, rather than adjust to fit the new program.
