Three-day old 2024 Kona EV, Bluelink mostly stopped working
My wife and I bought a 2024 Kona Electric three days ago, and the car itself seems great. But today around 5pm Pacific time, we started having serious trouble with the Bluelink service. The car seemed to stop sending complete information to Hyundai's servers. These problems affect both my login and my wife's login as well.
If we go into the Bluelink app on the phone, for the past few days the info would never be more than 5-15 minutes behind, but now the app is saying "3 hours ago" and growing. (I'm writing this at 8:25pm, the problems cropped up around 5pm, a little over 3 hours ago.)
For example the location in the app is showing Costa Mesa, California.
Another example: whenever we stop driving and lock the doors, a few minutes later we get a push notification indicating that the doors are still unlocked, which is incorrect. (This was quite a scare tonight since I had to run back to the car to see if I had left it unlocked, which I hadn't.)
At first we assumed there was some kind of server-side outage in Hyundai, but we can see that SOME features still work. For example we can see trip history and accurate odometer readings in the app.
I was looking for solutions online and some people recommended resetting the infotainment system with a paperclip, it's a button near the volume knob. I did that, and it definitely rebooted that system, but didn't change our symptoms.
Then (I regret doing this now), I deleted my Bluelink account from the car, which reset my profile back to Driver 1. When I go into the systems to re-link with Bluelink, it says I need to do it in the app or website. Unfortunately, when I go into the app or website, they both show my vehicle but don't provide a way to re-link to it. My wife's secondary driver profile (driver 2) still exists on the car, for what it's worth. I regret doing this because I lost all my settings in the car, and I am nervous that I'll have to go through some elaborate process to re-attach a whole new account or some other drawn-out ordeal now to get things working normally again.
Basically, the car is working great and we love it, but the software is really acting up and causing us a lot of trouble today. Is this just us? Does any of this sound familiar? Any advice would be welcome.
