Israel does not represent the Jewish people.

(This post was made from emotions, so feel free to call out anything I say that you disagree with)

Israel has done a massive amount of damage to Palestine and its people, but it also greatly harms us Jews. Not physically, but as a community.

Israel, especially in recent months, has split our community firmly in two: Zionist/pro-Israel and antizionist/against israel. There are Jews who believe that Israel, as the sole Jewish country, should be protected and defended, while there are others who are against it because no matter what happened to you or who you are, killing and oppressing people is bad. It sucks this division now exists between us, it makes sense but it's not ideal at all. I've seen too many posts on the main Jewish subreddit say they cut off their anti-israel friends just because of the fact they're against israel. It's truly terrible.

As I said in the previous paragraph, it doesn't matter what happened or who you are, but you shouldn't do what Israel is doing. Israel has hijacked Jewish suffering in order to justify Palestinian suffering. They and others also claim that any criticism of the country is antisemitism, which is just not true. It causes the word to lose its meaning as it becomes a boy who cried wolf situation. Jews outside of Israel are still a marginalized group of people, and to see the word that accentuates unnecessary hatred towards us and our suffering throughout history lose its meaning at the hands of the country that's supposed to "represent us" is distressing.

I can't believe, just because Israel is the sole Jewish nation, that there's still so many Jews that support Israel. It's 100% not antisemitism to call out these Jews, but because of the unwavering support they have and their numbers it can definitely cause some to generalize our ENTIRE community as being in support of the country when that isn't true, take this entire subreddit for example and JVP. It also gives ACTUAL antisemites a disguise to mask their irrational hatred of us.

Israel has split us in two, hijacked our suffering, causes important words and our history of suffering to lose meaning, can cause generalization, and gives antisemites a disguise. Its sickening. I don't care if the country is majority Jewish, if it has the star of david on its flag and the menorah on its seal, this country isn't a Jewish country. It's a genocidal state cloaked in the robes of Judaism.

Not in our name.
