Coltrane's "Giant Steps" is my introduction to the world of jazz music, and I listened to it on repeat until it "clicked".

Seems to me that most tracks on the album take the form of a main theme being introduced by the full band followed by solos and finishing with another restatement of the main theme, and once I figured that out the music "clicked" for me.

I know almost nothing about music theory but I know enough to hear that variations on the chord changes and main theme on the opening track keep showing up throughout the entire record, and I love how it gave a feeling of cohesiveness to the entire album.

Where should I go from here as the next stops in my jazz journey?

Edit: Also if it helps, I'm coming to jazz from a love of prog-rock, post-rock, prog metal, and psychedelic ambient music.
