Is it worth staying one night in Bologna?
Hello, I will be visiting Italy for 10 nights in October. I've been to Europe several times, but this will be my first time in Italy. I am flying into Bologna and out of Rome. I wanted to fly into Florence, but Bologna was cheaper.
I am looking to finalize my itinerary. I am waffling between staying the first night in Bologna or heading straight to Florence. My general itinerary is Bologna (0 to 1 night) > Florence (2 to 3 nights) > Naples (2 nights) > Rome (5 nights).
I am set to arrive in Bologna at 2:30. My initial thought was continue traveling and take the train to Florence, but that sounds more stressful than staying the night in Bologna. Does anyone have any recommendations for what to do for an evening in Bologna or does skipping the city entirely and spending more time in Florence make sense? I will be traveling alone. I am meeting my boyfriend in Florence a few days later.
Any advice or general thoughts on my itinerary are welcome.
