Thursday’s episode has made me realize a lot of people have a hard time understanding some characters are meant to be irrational

I think a lot of people struggle with the idea that some characters in fiction are meant to act irrationally. They get overwhelmed by emotion, hatred, grief and act out or make stupid decisions. But this is fully intentional from a storytelling perspective.

Powerplex is the perfect example of this. We’ve seen throughout the episode that he has access to footage showing Mark was trying to save the planet. He is straight up told this is why Invincible isn’t being prosecuted for the events in Chicago. The episode is not trying to make you believe Powerplex is right or acting rationally, on the contrary. It wants to show you that Mark’s actions have unintended ramifications, such as destroying lives or leaving unfixable mental scars on others.

Your takeaway shouldn’t be “Scott Duvall is a moron, he deserves his fate!”, but that he is a broken person lashing out due to unbearable grief
