One Complaint About Episode 5

Did anyone else feel kind of unsatisfied when the old dragon guy was brought back to life by his bodyguard? For a second I thought it was some of kind of ritual to transfer the dragon power to the bodyguard and he was gonna be a new wielder of it, but that's not what happened. I'm not super familiar with the comics so if they do something really cool with him later I'll eat my words, but it just seemed redundant to bring him back after killing him and switching up the status quo.
