The book is not what it claims to be!
I remember being fascinated by this book and picking it up only because I had a long flight ahead and this seemed like an unputdownable murder mystery! As per the description the book is supposed to be about a 33 year old journalist who unravels the case of a serial killer who happens to love cooking food for her victims. Having said that I did enjoy the book for 2 reasons: 1. I got a deeper insight into Japanese culture. 2. I loved the way the book was written offering diverse perspectives. The book explores multiple themes including fatphobia, eating disorders, feminism in Japan and obviously a lot of food- joys of eating and cooking for yourself!
