Wtf is a pather?

I understand it has something to do with the irs but how did i fall under it and can i get from being under it. Sucks last year i did get my refund till april 2. This year i filled my taxes on the jan 20th thinking that will help me get it earlier just to see ppl that filed way after me get it before me because they are not under the path bs
