Daily Tools/Consumables Discussion Day 8: The Hive Bomb
Howdy Hunters!
First of all thank you guys for engaging so much with yesterdays post about the spyglass! I didnt expect that item to get so many people talking. Thanks for making these posts so fun to do. You guys are the best :)
For todays post we are going to something totally different. Namely the Hive Bomb!
I have a complicated history with the hive bomb. This is an item that can really backfire and hurt you more than it does the enemy. And believe me when i tell you it has hurt me a lot during my time in hunt.
Despite that i do believe that when used well this item can be very strong. You throw it just like a dynamite stick but when it makes contact it breaks and the cloud or flies gets released similar to that of the Hive. The cloud deals 4 damage per tick as soon as it makes contact and applies the poisoned status if the target does not have an antidote shot active. When the cloud is on you you have to melee them to get rid of them which makes noise and you also cant heal which is really annoying, but combine it with a bleeding effect and you can really put hunters in an impossible situations. It requires some RNG to go your way, but if you've ever been on the receiving end of this you know how frustrating it can be to have to deal with this.
The way it works is that the cloud moves on line of sight, so if you dont want them to turn around and aggro on you then make sure that you dont look at them and make sure they cant see you and you are probably fine. It can still be a bit annoying if you want to push the enemy but the flies dont aggro on them. In that case if you push you will have to deal with them yourself.
Its not a perfect throwable and i never bring them from the menu, but they are common loot from toolboxes so getting comfortable with them is quite valuable because they can be very useful if used right.
