This car turns into a pumpkin in cold weather
Got our Elite in September, was really happy with range, functions, etc. especially at the deal Honda gave us.
Now in the teeth of winter here in the northeast with temps in the single digits and I will put this mildly, this car sucks 3,000 miles in.
When I can get the remote start to work in the app after waiting what seems like forever for the status to refresh, I have to set the climate to 80 degrees or higher to even get a whiff of comfortable heat in the vehicle. And even then it's still not at all toasty. This was not a problem in my old EV, a Polestar, I could remote start that at 72 and be nice and comfy in minutes (not to mention the Polestar app remote start took all of probably ten seconds and worked every time).
Once in the car, I am now getting the dreaded axle clicking when I turn (have filed a complaint with the NTHSA).
Every morning in this weather I get warnings to clean my windshield and the car's functionality is gimped (windshield is clean, and the message clears eventually in the afternoon).
The collision detection and auto-brake calibration sucks.
Will this car ever get a software update? There are so many little QoL problems that could be fixed with one.
And I know EV range takes a hit in the cold but my goodness, my other EV's range did not get nearly as gimped in the cold.
My commute is 8.6 miles. I left today with 105mi range and got to work with 80mi. That is ridiculous. I'm guessing part of it is that I have to have the heat cranked to 11 with the seats on to not be a popsicle en route.
Again, this kind of range hit and crappy heating system was not an issue in our Polestar or in our Volvo Recharge.
And did I bitch that the app sucks? It sucks. When you're getting ready and want to heat the cabin or whatever it's so aggravating to have to wait what seems like forever for the car status to refresh and then maybe if you're lucky the command will go through.
These types of functions are almost instantaneous for our Volvo.
Anyway, just wanted to complain. If you're happy with your Prologue and have had no issues, that is wonderful and I am happy for you. For me? I would GTFO of this lease if I could, I see nothing but trouble ahead in this car for me. The only comfort I have is the amazing deal I got on it from Honda.
