($500 USD) Taking the plunge to find the ideal headphone replacement

I'm looking for a good pair of headphones to upgrade to as my 3 year old Razer Blackshark is falling apart. Gaming headphones seem super overpriced for their quality, so I might as well look for better quality headphones at similar prices.
Budget: up to 500 USD, but could push the budget up a bit. I live in the US.
Usage: General use for gaming, listening to music, etc. at home.
Music Genres: rap and breakcore are the things I listen to the most, but I do occasionally listen to other genres
Past Headphones: Razer Blackshark, Steelseries Arctis (too tight even after adjusting) and a wired Logitech gaming headset that I can't remember the name.
Other Details: Microphone isn't a must as I already have a separate microphone. PC has a lot of available USB ports so USB plugin would be best.
