Who are the high school aged kids with clipboards & what do they want?

Almost everyday I see guys (seemingly high school aged ~17+) walking around with clipboards stopping people. The other day one of them physically put their hands on me to try to make me stop walking. Anyone know who they are and what they want? With the recent events going on I don't stop for anyone. I'm assuming they're raising money for something? Either way putting your hands on someone to try to force them to listen to you is uncalled for...
