Hit a brick wall and could use help!
Hi everyone. I could use some help and/or advice on where to look for this. I’ve searched old Fulton, nyc historical news papers, and newspapers.com with no luck.
My ancestor, Joseph Scogni/scoini/scoyni was a fairly well known boxer in NYC and Harlem 1922-1924. On Christmas Day, he was shot at a pool hall in Harlem, 352 east 105th street, and later died. 5 other men were shot too. At least one died- Joseph Cassio/cascio. The other men were Patrick/ Patay Rosetta/ Rosetti, Gaetano sabatiano / Sabatano and Rocco Mascetta.
The articles say at least 2 of the men were expected to die too. I’ve seen articles up to the 26/27th. Then, silence.
I can’t find any later reports. I’d love to know if an arrest was ever made, if this ever went to court etc. Does anyone have any suggestions where I should look?
