Geico Insurance UIM Claim

Long story short, I was involved in a uninsured motorist claim with my own insurance company Geico.

It has been over a year since the accident and Geico has yet to give me a first offer. I have completed physical therapy and finished chiropractor care. I have also received confirmation of needing surgery due to the accident that I have yet to complete until I receive the settlement offer, because the recovery time will be extensive and I need a way to fund my expenses while I am in recovery atter surgery.

However, even with all this information, Geico is taking their sweet time paying me out for my injuries regarding the accident. I have given them all of my medical records, wage loss information, a video of the other party hitting me and then driving off! At this point, I am getting very impatient and frustrated at Geico and my adjusters process with my claim.

No I do not have an attorney and do not plan to have an attorney until I feel it is necessary to file a lawsuit. I have done everything myself and I am waiting for the initial offer so I can determine if I need a lawyer to proceed or just accept their negotiation offer.

My question is, is there anything I can do to expedite this process? Are there any laws in California that states that my adjuster has a certain amount of time to accept or deny a claim and respond to a settlement offer in a timely manner?

I absolutely do not want to hire an attorney until I receive a settlement offer, so please do not recommend that I hire an attorney.
